Travel to Hämeenlinna

City of Hämeenlinna is situated only 55 minutes from Helsinki International Airport and can be reached easily by bus, taxi or train.

...by plane
The two nearest airports to Hämeenlinna are Helsinki-Vantaa airport (100 kilometres) and Tampere Pirkkala airport (80 kilometres ).

...by bus
From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport
The most convenient way to travel to Hämeenlinna from Helsinki-Vantaa airport is to take a bus. There’s a bus connection almost every hour from the airport to Hämeenlinna at daytime. The bus drive takes approx. an hour, but please note that you have to switch to another bus 15 minutes out from the airport.
The switch of the bus takes place in a place called Keimolanportti and this procedure is really simple! Keimolanportti is actually a gas station and the bus from the airport meets another bus from Helsinki which is going to Hämeenlinna. The two busses stop directly next to each other and all the passengers from the airport will have to change to another bus. You just have to make sure that the luggage is also transferred. This is really convenient because all the passengers make the same change and the area is not a crowded bus station, but a simple gas station. Once you have arrived to Hämeenlinna, it is recommendable to take a taxi from the bus station. Only Hotel Emilia is located in a walking-distance from the bus station.

In the time-table search, please write Helsinki-Vantaa to the 'From' field and Hämeenlinna to the 'To' field. Price for a one-way ticket is approx. 15 euros.
The busses to Hämeenlinna leave from Helsinki-Vantaa from platform 13 (international terminal).

From Tampere-Pirkkala Airport
There is a bus shuttle from Tampere-Pirkkala airport to Hämeenlinna from Ryanair’s flights. You may find detailed information about connections at: Airpro.
All the connections 'to' and 'from' Helsinki make a stop in Hämeenlinna. Bus stop is in front of a building called WETTERHOFF, which is close to the bus station. You may ask the driver to drop you off at the correct stop.

...by taxi
One option is to take a taxi from the airport to Hämeenlinna. A basic rule concerning the taxis is that the more there are passengers and fuller the car is, the cheaper the price. So if there are several passengers coming at the same time, a taxi might be a competitive way to travel to Hämeenlinna. Taxi can be taken either from Helsinki-Vantaa airport or ordered in advance from company Kanta-Hämeen Aluetaksi Oy, Mr. Seppo Lamminheimo. Please make the reservation to this company by e-mail or by fax. Booking by phone is not available.
